The Difference Between Abatement and Asbestos Remediation

Asbestos abatement and remediation are closely related but distinct processes for managing ACMs.

Asbestos Abatement refers specifically to controlling or removing asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) through methods like removal, encapsulation, or repair, performed by licensed contractors trained to handle asbestos safely.

It involves the physical handling of asbestos, including removal, encapsulation, or repair of ACMs. We do not offer abatement services, but support our abatement partners by providing Air Monitoring.

Asbestos remediation, on the other hand, is a broader term that encompasses the entire process of addressing an asbestos problem.

Asbestos Remediation includes:

  • Inspection and assessment of the asbestos-containing materials,
  • Development of a comprehensive plan to address the asbestos issue,
  • Implementation of control measures, which may include abatement,
  • Ongoing management and monitoring of the site.

CAUTION

*If asbestos is found in your property, hire a professional, state certified asbestos abatement contractor for removal.
